Dussehra,
an important festival of the Hindus commemorating the victory of good over
evil, is celebrated in Kota like other parts of India with great fervor.
Its a biggest fair in India celebrated on the occasion of Dussehra. There

Fairs and festival of Kota reflect the vigor and life style of its People. Woman pray for their husband's and unmarried women entreat the goddness for a good groom. The most Important local festival of Rajasthan, Gangaur is the dedicated to Gauri, the consort of lord Shiva and the symbol of marital happiness. A festival of maidens and married women, it being on the day following Holi and is celebrated for eighteen days the field in the Hadoti region are covered with blossoming poppy flowers. It is a small place, near village Kelwara of Baran
district. This fair, of religous importance, is held from Baisakh Sudi
Punam to Jeth Amavas. The fair is at its peak on Chandra Amavas and Pudwa
dooj. Thousands of people take a holy dip in the tanks of Sita Kund,
Laxman Kund and Suraj Kund.

A big cattle fair is held every year in the month of Kartik (Oct. - Nov.) at Chandra Bhaga near Jhalaranpatan. On the full moon night of Kartik Purnima, devotees gather to take a holy dip in the river.
